Brow Tattoo Questions
7 QuestionsWhat is the difference between ombre powder brows and microblading?
Ombre powder brows create a soft, powdered makeup look using a machine with fine needles to implant pigment into the skin. The result is similar to filling in your brows with pencil or powder—very natural and soft. Microblading uses a manual tool to create hair-like strokes, which can look more dramatic but may not be suitable for all skin types. At our Canley Vale studio, we specialise in ombre powder brows because they tend to last longer and work better on oily or mature skin.
How long do brow tattoos last?
Brow tattoos typically last 1-3 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Oily skin tends to fade faster, while dry skin retains pigment longer. Sun exposure, skincare products, and exfoliation can also affect longevity. A color boost refresh is usually recommended every 12-18 months to maintain the freshness of your brows.
Does brow tattoo hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as mild discomfort, similar to tweezing or threading. We use topical numbing cream before and during the procedure to minimize discomfort. Many Western Sydney clients tell us the numbing cream significantly reduces sensation, making the process comfortable for most people.
Am I a good candidate for brow tattoo?
Good candidates for brow tattoo are in general good health, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have realistic expectations about the results. Ideal candidates want to save time on their daily routine, have sparse or uneven brows, or want to enhance their natural brow shape. A consultation at our Canley Vale studio is recommended to discuss your goals and assess suitability.
What is the healing process like for brow tattoo?
The healing process takes about 4-6 weeks. Days 1-7: brows appear darker and more intense. This is normal—color will soften. Days 7-14: scabbing and flaking occurs. Don't pick! Days 14-28: color settles and reveals final result. Week 4-6: perfect touch-up time if needed. Avoid water, sweat, sun, and makeup on the area for the first 10 days. Follow aftercare instructions carefully for optimal healing.
How much do brow tattoos cost in Sydney?
At Browhaus Sydney, ombre powder brows start from $450 for the initial treatment, which includes the touch-up session 6-8 weeks later. This is competitive pricing for Western Sydney. During your consultation at our Canley Vale studio, you'll receive a detailed quote with no hidden fees—pricing varies based on correction work, additional services, or customisation.
Can I fix previous bad brow tattoo work?
Yes, we can often improve or correct previous brow tattoo work. The approach depends on the existing color, shape, and scarring. Options include color correction, reshaping, or laser removal before fresh work. During your consultation, we'll assess your previous work and recommend the best path forward. Correction work may require additional sessions and cost.
Brow Lamination Questions
6 QuestionsWhat is brow lamination?
Brow lamination is a chemical treatment that straightens and sets brow hairs in place, creating fuller, fluffier, more defined brows. Think of it as a perm for your brows—it restructures the brow hairs to lay in a uniform, upward direction. The result is instantly fuller-looking brows with a polished, groomed appearance that lasts 6-8 weeks.
How long does brow lamination last?
Brow lamination typically lasts 6-8 weeks. The treatment permanently alters the hair structure during the process, but as new brow hairs grow in, they will have your natural texture. To maintain the look, you can repeat the treatment every 6-8 weeks. Proper aftercare, including daily brushing and conditioning balm, extends the results.
Is brow lamination safe?
Yes, brow lamination is safe when performed by a trained professional using high-quality products. At our Canley Vale studio, we use formulas specifically designed for brows and perform a patch test before your first treatment to check for sensitivity. Side effects are rare but can include temporary redness or tingling.
Can I get brow lamination if I have sensitive skin?
Most clients with sensitive skin can safely get brow lamination. We use gentle, high-quality products and perform a patch test 24-48 hours before your first treatment to check for reactions. If you've had reactions to hair perm products in the past, let us know during consultation so we can discuss alternatives or perform additional testing.
What's the difference between brow lamination and brow tint?
Brow lamination changes the texture and direction of brow hairs, making them appear fuller and more uniform. Brow tint changes the color of the hairs, adding depth and definition. They're often done together for maximum effect—laminating for volume and structure, then tinting for color. Lamination lasts 6-8 weeks, while tint lasts 4-6 weeks.
Can I still wear makeup after brow lamination?
Yes, you can absolutely wear makeup after brow lamination. In fact, one of the benefits is that you'll need less brow makeup to achieve a polished look. Wait 24 hours after the treatment before applying any products to the brow area. After that, you can use brow pencil, powder, or gel as usual—though most clients find they need much less.
Lash Lift Questions
6 QuestionsWhat is a Korean lash lift?
A Korean lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that curls and lifts your natural lashes from the base, creating the appearance of longer, fuller lashes without extensions. The Korean technique emphasises a natural, soft curl rather than a dramatic lift. Silicone pads are used to mold lashes into a lifted position, then a setting solution locks the curl in place.
How long does a lash lift last?
A lash lift typically lasts 6-8 weeks. The treatment permanently curls your natural lashes during the process, but as lashes shed and regrow (the natural lash cycle), new lashes will grow in straight. To maintain the look, repeat the treatment every 6-8 weeks. Using a lash conditioner daily can extend results and keep lashes healthy.
Is lash lift better than extensions?
It depends on your goals and lifestyle. Lash lifts enhance your own natural lashes, require no maintenance, and are great for active lifestyles. Extensions add length and volume with artificial lashes but require regular fills and more care. Lifts are more natural and lower maintenance; extensions are more dramatic. Many of our Western Sydney clients prefer lifts for their low-maintenance convenience.
Does a lash lift damage natural lashes?
When performed by a trained professional using quality products, lash lifts do not damage natural lashes. The treatment uses chemical solutions similar to hair perm products, formulated specifically for lashes. We use conditioning treatments to protect lash health. Avoid over-processing—wait the full 6-8 weeks between treatments to allow healthy new lashes to grow in.
Can I wear mascara after a lash lift?
Yes, you can wear mascara after a lash lift, but wait 24 hours after the treatment to allow the curl to set properly. After that, water-based mascara is fine. Avoid waterproof mascara, which can be difficult to remove and may weaken the curl. Many clients find they need little to no mascara after a lift because their own lashes look so much longer and more curled.
What's the difference between a lash lift and lash perm?
Lash lifts and perms are similar treatments that curl natural lashes, but the technique differs. Traditional perms use a roller and create a uniform curl. Lash lifts use silicone pads and create a more natural, graduated lift from base to tip. Lifts are generally considered more modern and comfortable than perms. The Korean technique we use at Browhaus emphasises a soft, natural curl rather than a tight, uniform curl.
Lip Blush Questions
6 QuestionsWhat is lip blush?
Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that adds natural-looking color and definition to your lips. Unlike traditional lip tattooing which creates a solid, heavy outline, lip blush uses a soft shading technique to enhance your natural lip color, define the lip line, and create the appearance of fuller lips. The result is like wearing a perfectly applied tinted lip balm 24/7.
How long does lip blush last?
Lip blush typically lasts 2-3 years, depending on your lifestyle, aftercare, and individual factors. Lip tissue is different from skin—it regenerates faster and may fade more quickly than brow tattoos. Touch-ups are recommended every 18-24 months to maintain color vibrancy. Sun exposure, smoking, and frequent lip product use can affect longevity.
Does lip blush hurt?
Lip blush is more sensitive than brow tattoo because lip tissue is highly vascular and innervated. However, we use strong topical numbing and may offer numbing injections for increased comfort. Most clients describe the sensation as vibration or pressure rather than sharp pain. The procedure takes about 2 hours, and numbing is reapplied as needed for comfort.
Am I a good candidate for lip blush?
Good candidates want to enhance natural lip color, define the lip line, or correct asymmetry. Ideal if you frequently reapply lip color, have pale or uneven lips, or want to appear more polished without makeup. Not suitable if you have active cold sores, certain lip conditions, or are pregnant/nursing. A consultation at our Canley Vale studio assesses suitability.
What is the healing process for lip blush?
Healing takes about 4-6 weeks. Days 1-3: lips appear very dark and intense—completely normal. Days 4-7: dryness, peeling, and flaking. Don't pick! Days 8-14: color softens and reveals true result. Avoid spicy/acidic foods, kissing, and straws for the first week. Apply healing ointment as directed. Lips may appear patchy during peeling—this is temporary.
Can I choose any lip color for lip blush?
We work with natural-looking tones that complement your skin and preferences. Popular choices include nude-pink for a natural 'your lips but better' look, rose for a romantic flush, berry for depth, and warm terra for a sunkissed vibe. During your consultation, we'll discuss your goals and test colors to find your perfect shade. Avoid trends—choose a color that enhances your natural beauty.
Brow Tint & Shaping Questions
5 QuestionsWhat is hybrid brow tint?
Hybrid brow tint combines traditional vegetable-based tint with henna for longer-lasting, more intense color. The tint stains the skin beneath hairs for a filled-in look, while henna stains the hair shaft for deeper color that lasts longer than traditional tint alone. The result is defined, polished brows with color that lasts 4-6 weeks on hair and 1-2 weeks on skin.
What is brow shaping?
Brow shaping is the art of creating the perfect brow arch for your face. At our Canley Vale studio, we assess your facial features, bone structure, and natural brow growth pattern to design a custom shape. Using waxing, tweezing, and trimming, we sculpt your brows into a flattering arch that lifts your eyes and balances your features.
How often should I get my brows tinted?
Brow tint typically lasts 4-6 weeks on the hair. For consistent color, schedule tinting every 4-6 weeks. If you have a special event, time your tint 3-5 days before for optimal color. Hybrid tint with henna lasts longer (6 weeks on hair) than traditional vegetable tint alone. Your technician can recommend a schedule based on your hair growth and color goals.
Can brow tint fix sparse brows?
Brow tint can make sparse brows appear fuller by darkening fine, light hairs that aren't visible, and staining the skin beneath hairs for a filled-in effect. However, tint doesn't create actual hair where none exists. For truly sparse brows, combine tint with lamination (to redirect existing hairs) or consider brow tattoo for a semi-permanent solution.
What's the difference between brow tint and brow tattoo?
Brow tint is a semi-permanent color that stains the surface of brow hairs and skin. It lasts 4-6 weeks and gradually fades. Brow tattoo implants pigment into the skin, creating semi-permanent definition that lasts 1-3 years. Tint is ideal for trying a new look or supplementing natural brows. Tattoo is ideal for saving time daily, filling in sparse areas, or long-term convenience.

What should I do before my brow or lash appointment?
Arrive with clean, product-free brows and lashes—no makeup, skincare, or oils. If possible, avoid caffeine before your appointment as it can increase sensitivity. Bring reference photos if you have a specific look in mind. For brow tattoo, avoid blood thinners (aspirin, alcohol) for 24-48 hours prior. Come prepared to discuss your goals, preferences, and any concerns.
What is the aftercare for brow tattoo?
Keep the area dry for 10 days—no water, sweat, or makeup. Apply healing ointment as directed (usually 2-3 times daily). Avoid sun exposure, swimming, saunas, and exercise for 10 days. Don't pick at scabs or flakes. Sleep on your back to avoid friction. Use a fresh pillowcase. After healed, apply SPF daily to prevent fading. Follow specific instructions provided at your appointment.
What is the aftercare for brow lamination?
Keep brows dry for 24 hours after treatment—no water, steam, or sweat. Brush brows daily with the provided spoolie to maintain shape. Apply conditioning balm daily to keep hairs hydrated and glossy. Avoid heat (saunas, hot yoga) for 48 hours. Don't use harsh skincare products on brows. If needed, tint can be done 48 hours after lamination. Follow specific aftercare provided.
What is the aftercare for lash lift?
Keep lashes dry for 24 hours—no water, steam, or eye makeup. Use a lash conditioner daily to keep lashes healthy and curled. Avoid waterproof mascara, which can weaken the curl. Don't use an eyelash curler—your lashes are already curled. Avoid oil-based eye makeup removers, which can break down the lift. If needed, tint can be done 48 hours after lash lift.
Do you offer touch-up or refinement sessions?
Yes! For brow tattoo and lip blush, a touch-up session 6-8 weeks after your initial treatment is included. This allows us to refine color, shape, and density for perfect results. After that, color boosts are recommended every 12-24 months to maintain freshness. For lamination and lash lift, simply rebook every 6-8 weeks to maintain the look. We'll send you a reminder when it's time.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a fee. This policy allows us to offer your appointment to another client and respects our technician's time. If you're unwell, please reschedule—cosmetic treatments shouldn't be done when you're not feeling your best. Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change your appointment.
